I qualified as a Sports Injury Therapist through the IMST & OFP Limerick in 2008. To date, most of my experience has been gained through working with teams and individuals across a variety of sports. As a professional Sports Massage Therapist, I believe in treating the cause and not the symptoms which is why I am so passionate about what I do.

How I like to work

Throughout a Sports Massage session, I believe in treating the ‘total client’ which is why each session is tailored towards the client’s needs. As our muscles don’t work in isolation we often over compensate when injured causing additional problems. Through skilled palpation, I use a variety of techniques during a Sports Injury Massage such as Myofascial Release, Soft Tissue Release, Deep Tissue and Deep Pressure, to achieve the best possible outcome for the client.

Massage, applied skilfully, is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Regular maintenance massage improves muscle tone, increases flexibility while speeding up the recover process. We expect a lot from our bodies and far too often we don’t give it the respect it deserves resulting in strain and injury.

I believe in treating the cause and not the symptoms, and that is why I am passionate about what I do.

This type of cupping is suitable for all age groups

Sports Massage Cupping is becoming  very popular in the sporting world as a maintenance and support tool in preventing and treating injuries. During a session the therapist will attach cups onto the area to be treated for a couple of minutes to create suction. A series of movements and strokes will be used to glide the cups over the area. As a result, the blood flow is greater to the area helping to aid with recovery time and injuries,it also helps to realign muscle fibres and lifts and stretches soft tissues. Lymphatic drainage is improved helping to eliminate toxins released from the muscles during a session.

When carried out by a skilled and trained therapist there are many benefits to this type of cupping.

Here are some examples

› Speeds up toxin removal from tissues › Improves circulation › Fibromyalgia › Lymphatic Damage › Relaxation & Well-being › Deep Tissue Massage › Can be used to treat a sluggish digestive system › Treatment of Specific Injuries (IT Band, Rotator Cuff, Shoulder, Groin, Back, Spine, Quadriceps, Shin Splints, Hamstrings, Calf Strain) › Improve Recovery Time For Athletes › Improves cellulite appearance › Improves the appearance of surgical scars (6 months post surgery) › Pre & Post event Massage  › Sedates the nervous system
